Description
Joris Oldenziel is one of the four independent members of the Dutch National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines since January 2021. He further serves as the Deputy Director of the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, a ground-breaking agreement between trade unions and 200 garment brands designed to work towards a safe and healthy Bangladeshi Ready-Made Garment Industry.
He has a background in Responsible Business Conduct and Corporate Accountability. This includes research and policy advocacy at the Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations (SOMO) in senior management positions. His expertise includes international policy advocacy on standards and principles for responsible business conduct, multi-stakeholder agreements and non-judicial grievance mechanisms.
Joris has been active in bringing together the advocacy efforts of civil society organisations on RBC, by setting up national and international coalitions such as the Dutch MVO Platform, the European Coalition for Corporate Justice (ECCJ) and OECD Watch. As co-founder and coordinator he represented OECD Watch in multiple OECD policy processes including the negotiations on the 2011 Update of the OECD MNE Guidelines and the OECD-FAO Responsible Agricultural Supply Chains Advisory Group in 2014.
Joris also serves as the NCP Advising member on the Dutch Social and Economic Council (SER) Committee on International Corporate Responsibility.
