Biography

Abbas Luyombo is a 27-year-old Ugandan lawyer with visual impairment and a Young Justice Leader under Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just, and Inclusive Societies. Passionate about climate justice, human rights, and inclusive social policies, Abbas holds an LLB from Makerere University and is dedicated to legal research, policy advocacy, and championing the rights of vulnerable communities. Certified in Law and Development and Leadership from prestigious institutions such as A4ID UK and Oxford University, Abbas advocates for inclusive, people-centred justice and responsible business practices. His legal advocacy has been impactful, serving as a Clinical Fellow at the Makerere University Public Interest Law Clinic, where he trained law students in advocacy on social and people-centred justice, including the advancement of minority rights. He has supported diversity initiatives at Unilever Kenya Ltd and orchestrated pan-African justice partnerships as Pro Bono Projects Coordinator at DLA Piper Africa. Abbas is committed to volunteer work, including with the Network for Public Interest Lawyers (NETPIL) Uganda and the Makerere University Disability Law Rights Centre, focusing on legal aid and policy advocacy for vulnerable communities. His dedication to community service is evident through his work with the Mastercard Foundation Alumni at BRAC Uganda, where he promotes legal compliance and advocates for the rights of women and children, notably their sexual and reproductive health rights. Aligned with the vision of Young Justice Leaders under Pathfinders for Peaceful Just and Inclusive societies, Abbas aims to create an inclusive world where every voice is heard and every right defended, contributing to the advancement of SDG 16.
