Biography
With a focus on post-secondary institutions, Erin Kleisinger, K.C. has advised and acted as general counsel to the University of Regina for over 25 years. She is a member of the Canadian Association of University Solicitors, and served as its President in 2017 – 2018. She is listed in Best Lawyers in Canada in the Education Law category.
Erin has a deep commitment to service her profession and her community. In November 2023, she was elected as the President of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada (having served as the Law Society of Saskatchewan’s representative on Council since 2018). The Federation is the national association of the 14 provincial and territorial law societies, mandated to regulate Canada’s legal profession in the public interest and facilitate collaboration between the law societies.
Erin regularly speaks and provides workshops for, and continuing legal education to, other lawyers, organisations, and clients on a range of issues, including administrative law, privacy law, investigations training, student disciplinary matters, contracting, and regulation of the legal profession. From 2007 – 2023, she taught at the Law Society of Saskatchewan’s Trial Advocacy Skills Workshop, and was the Workshop’s Chair from 2012 – 2023.
Erin has appeared as counsel at all levels of court (including the Supreme Court of Canada), as well as before labour and human rights tribunals.
Erin is a former Bencher and Past-President of the Law Society of Saskatchewan. From 2002 – 2023, she was a member of the Board of Directors of Group Medical Services and GMS Insurance Inc., a national individual health and group benefits insurance company, serving as Chair in 2020 – 2022.
