Biography

Peter Pavlin is the Head of the Punitive Law and Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Slovenia. His core responsibilities include drafting national legislation in the areas of criminal law, data protection, penitentiary law, and the constitutional judiciary. He also provides expert opinions on the compatibility of national draft legislation with human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as on constitutional law matters. Throughout his career, Peter has frequently acted as an expert for the European Union, the Council of Europe, and other regional organisations, contributing to legislative drafting efforts in several Western Balkan and Eastern European countries. He is also an active member of various intergovernmental working groups and councils, such as the Human Rights Ombudsman Council, and the Inter-Ministerial Working Group on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
