Biography

Carlos Quispe Dávila is a candidate for a Master’s in Anthropology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). He is a candidate for a Master’s degree in Anthropology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). He holds a Law degree from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM), where he graduated summa cum laude with a thesis on the rights of indigenous peoples in situations of initial contact (PICI). Currently, he is a Project Leader at Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (DAR), focusing on community articulation and empowerment with indigenous peoples in Junín, Ucayali, and Loreto, regions in inland Peru. His work addresses the territorial pressures arising from infrastructure projects and illicit economies and involves dialogue with various state levels to promote urgent protection measures for the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact (PIACI) and Indigenous and Environmental Defenders. In addition to his work at DAR, he serves as a teaching assistant at the Legal Clinic of Structural Litigation at UNMSM, where he supports the development of legal strategies for complex cases involving human rights and environmental law. He is also actively involved in international scholarly and advocacy networks, serving as Co-Chair of the Amazon Section of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) for 2024-2026 and as a member of the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW).
