Dawn Anderson

Senate of Canada

Senator for the Northwest Territories

Biography

Senator Anderson is a proud Inuvialuk who before her appointment to the Senate in 2018 worked as a public servant with the Government of the Northwest Territories for more than 20 years, notably her role in the Department of Justice as the Director of Community Justice and Policing, where she implemented positive changes to the territorial justice system. As part of her role as a Northern senator, she is committed to raising the profile of Arctic, Inuit, and Indigenous issues across Canada, to ensure equitable representation that recognizes the uniqueness and diversity of the territory, particularly when it comes to legislation. She firmly believes in community driven initiatives to improve life in the North and bridge socio-economic gaps between the Arctic and the rest of Canada.
