Biography

Ms. Martine St-Louis, has been a federal public servant for 20 years. She’s a modern public service leader who is preoccupied with translating policy into action. She’s currently the Director leading Canada’s Black Justice Strategy, which is a top priority for the Department of Justice. The Strategy is the federal government’s response to address anti-Black racism and systemic discrimination that has led to the overrepresentation of Black people in the criminal justice system, including as victims of crime. The Strategy will be informed by the diverse experiences of Black communities, including groups such as youth, women, newcomers, and others, and will aim to help ensure Black people have access to equal treatment and equal protection before and under the law in Canada. When she’s not working, she values spending time with family and friends and finding creative ways to maintain connections. She enjoys Zumba and karaoke, and in the summer, spending time outdoors on the local walking and biking trails, boating, and getting the most out of each day.
