Biography

​Tan Shee Hian is currently the Director of Strategic Planning & Policy Division at the Ministry of Law, Singapore. He oversees strategic planning and transformation efforts for the Ministry as well as policies relating to community justice and legal services. From 2020-2024, Mr. Shee Hian led the Strategic Planning, Research & Development Group at the Ministry of Social and Family Development. He oversaw strategic and corporate planning, policy research, data governance and innovation functions for the Ministry. Previously, from 2014-2019, Mr. Shee Hian was the Deputy Official Assignee and Public Trustee, Insolvency & Public Trustee’s Office (IPTO) at the Ministry of Law, where he focused on policies and operations for bankruptcy administration in Singapore. He held a concurrent appointment as Director (Planning) overseeing strategic and corporate planning. Mr. Shee Hian has also held the position of Deputy Director (Energy Policy & International Cooperation), Energy Division at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. In this role, he formulated and reviewed energy policies relating to energy security, climate change, energy research and technology, and international cooperation. He has also served in other Ministries focsuing on ageing and eldercare services, as well as policies relating to the environment and water resources. Mr. Shee Hian holds a Masters in Engineering in Civil & Environmental Engineering, from Imperial College, London. He is married with two children.
