Biography

Eduardo Arana Ysa has served as the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Peru since 6 September 2023. In addition, he has extensive experience in various public institutions of the Peruvian State, including the Congress of the Republic, the National Council of the Judiciary, and the Judiciary. He has served as a university professor in constitutional matters and human rights for over 20 years. Mr. Arana holds several advanced degrees: a Master’s in International Cooperation for Development, a Master’s in Political Science, a Master’s in Constitutional Law, a Master’s in Constitutional Justice and Human Rights from the University of Bologna, and a Master’s in History of the Hispanic World from Jaume I University in Castellón de la Plana. He has also completed PhD studies in Government and Public Policy, as well as in Law and Political Science. His specialisations include Human Rights and Constitutional Justice: “The Right of Access to Justice and Human Rights” from the University of Bologna, conflict resolution, negotiation strategies, and mediation techniques from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, Higher Education in Constitutional Justice and Jurisdictional Protection of Rights from the University of Pisa, and Conflict Prevention and Sustainable Social Management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
