Description

Hendrik Johannes Terras is an Estonian politician who holds the portfolio of the Minister of Regional Affairs and Agriculture for the Republic of Estonia since 25 March 2025. He leads the Ministry responsible for the strategic direction of the country's regional development, alongside agriculture, rural affairs and food production sectors. Mr Terras pursued his academic studies at the University of Tartu, completing his Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communication in 2017 and his Master's degree in Communication Management in 2019. Prior to taking up the ministerial post, Mr Terras was the Member of the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) from 2023 to 2025. During this period, Mr Terras served as the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee. Under his chairmanship, the committee played the central part in the deliberations and the legislative process concerning the crucial topic of the voting rights of citizens from aggressor countries in Estonian local elections and their potential restriction. Under his chairmanship, this complex legal and political matter received thorough consideration. Politically, Hendrik Johannes Terras is associated with the Estonia 200 party, which he joined in 2021. Before joining politics, Mr Terras worked in the private sector. His career in the private sector includes experience within both the defence and communication technology sectors. From 2020 to 2023, Mr Terras served as the Sales Manager at Milrem Robotics, one of Estonia's leading defence technology firms, where he was involved in the marketing and international sales of the company's innovative product range. Between 2018 and 2020, he gained experience in the communications sector as the Key Account Manager at Messente Communications OÜ, a company providing messaging solutions. Hendrik Johannes Terras is a member of the Estonian Defence League (Kaitseliit), making a voluntary contribution to Estonia's national defence as part of the Toompea Unit (Malevkond). He is also a member of the academic fraternity Korporatsioon Sakala. Hendrik Johannes Terras was born on 14 June 1993 in Tallinn. Mr Terras is married and has one child.
