Description
Dr. Aleksander Jevšek holds a master's degree in law and a doctorate in criminal justice. For 30 years he worked in various managerial positions in the Slovenian police, the last four years as director of the Slovenian criminal police. From 2012 to 2014, he participated as an expert in the European Commission's project to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of harmonisation of criminal law legislation with EU standards. He served two terms as mayor of the Municipality of Murska Sobota and chaired the Community of Municipalities of Slovenia, which has 179 members. He has been a member of the Slovenian delegation to the Committee of the Regions of the EU for seven years, while at the same time serving as deputy head of the Slovenian delegation. He is a member of the NAT, CIVEX and JCC commissions for Serbia in the Committee of the Regions. He is a member of the U-LEAD working group on Ukraine. He has been Minister for Cohesion and Regional Development since 2022.
