Signe Riisalo is the Minister of Social Protection of the Republic of Estonia. She took office in 2021 and has served in the current Government since 17 April 2023. Signe Riisalo was born on 8 October 1968 in Tallinn. She has two children, a son and a daughter. Riisalo is a member of the Estonian Reform Party. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY AND CAREER 2021 – 2023 Served as the Minister of Social Protection 2019 – 2021 Served as a member of the 14th Riigikogu, including the Study Committee to Solve the Demographic Crisis, and the Social Affairs Committee 1993 – 2019 Worked in the Department of Social Welfare, and the Department of Children and Families at the Ministry of Social Affairs 1990 – 1993 Worked as an assistant adviser at the Government Office 1987 – 1990 Worked as an engineer at Eesti Maaehitusprojekt EDUCATION Signe Riisalo studied in the Faculty of Economics at the Tallinn Polytechnic Institute, and the Faculty of Law at the University of Tartu. She acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Tallinn University in 2017, and has since undertaken postgraduate studies in Social Pedagogy and Child Protection.
