OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector

Aligning Bangladesh Garment Industry with the ‘Three Zeros’: A Path to Due Diligence and Sustainability

Feb 10, 2025 | 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

Description

Organised by: Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Paris Co-organised by: Bangladesh Garment Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Bangladesh's Readymade Garment (RMG) sector, which accounts for over 80% of country’s exports and employs more than four million, especially women, is crucial to the country's economy and social progress. As the world's second-largest apparel exporter, it is uniquely positioned to expand globally while promoting labor rights, innovation, and sustainability, driving long-term growth and development. The session will focus on advancing sustainability and social responsibility in Bangladesh's RMG sector. It will explore how Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus's "Three Zeros" framework—zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions—can drive innovation, ethical practices, and environmental accountability in the RMG industry. The session will bring together stakeholders to share insights and best practices for fostering a sustainable and equitable future for the sector. More information and registration
