Description
Javier works for the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade on issues related to trade and sustainable development. In particular he is responsible for the coordination of trade and human rights issues and, together with DG GROW, of the Regulation prohibiting products made with forced labour on the EU market.
His previous work for the European Union includes the coordination of the EU policy on business and human rights at the European External Action Service (EEAS) and providing legal advice on biotechnology policy at the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). He has also worked for the Legal Service of the European Parliament and for the University of Strasbourg on international law matters.
He holds a degree in Law and Political Science from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a master’s in law (LLM) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
