International Forum for Migration Statistics 2025

Deadline for submission: 1 December 2024

Call for proposals: Parallel sessions and individual papers

How can I contribute or participate ?

The IFMS 2025 will include around 40 parallel sessions, each lasting 60 to 90 minutes, in addition to 5 plenary sessions featuring high-level policymakers and experts. You can contribute in two ways:

- Propose to organise a parallel session as an individual expert or institution. If selected by the programme committee, session organisers will assume complete responsibility for selecting, inviting, sponsoring and coordinating the panellists and presenters in their sessions.

- Submit a paper or a report that contributes to improving the measurement of international migration or the evaluation of its impacts. If selected by the programme committee, the paper will be incorporated into one of the parallel sessions composed of individual contributions. Information on a possibility to transform the paper/report into a poster will be provided closer to the Forum.

Although participation in the Forum is free of charge, participants are expected to cover their transportation and daily subsistence costs. A limited number of grants will be available for participants from developing countries.

How will papers and sessions be selected ?

Proposals will be assessed by the IFMS 2025 Scientific Committee based on the following criteria:
• Completion of the submission form.
• Relevance of the topic to the chosen themes of IFMS 2025.
• Clearly stated thesis, findings and methodological approach.
• Degree of innovation and originality.
• Complementarity with other contributions, to ensure a diverse and well-balanced programme.

The IFMS 2025 organisers will communicate the outcomes of the selection process in February 2025 at the latest.
