FAQ: Call for Proposals

What is the IFMS 2025 Call for Proposals about?
You will be asked to indicate the subject of submission from the following choices:

> Propose to organise a parallel session as an individual expert or institution.
> Submit a paper or a report that contributes to improving the measurement of migration and its impacts.
Both - propose to organise a parallel session and submit a paper not related to the proposed session.

Please note that an individual email address can be used for one single submission.
Which topics are acceptable for submission?
The Forum is accepting submissions for parallel sessions or papers related to the IFMS 2025 thematic areas.

More general contributions, notably on migration data collection methodology, are welcome. Specific attention will be given to the gender dimension of migration as well as to innovative data tools, notably in relation to Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.
How can I submit a proposal for consideration?
All submissions must go through the Call for Submissions link found on the IFMS 2025 website. The deadline for submission is December 1st, 2024.
How will proposals be selected?
Proposals will be assessed by the IFMS 2025 Scientific Committee based on the following criteria:

> Completion of the submission form
> Relevance of the topic to the IFMS 2025 themes
> Clearly defined thesis, findings, and methodological approach
> Inclusion of innovation and originality
> Balance with other accepted abstracts to allow for a diverse programme
When will the selection of submissions be communicated?
Decisions on parallel sessions and paper submissions will be communicated in February 2025 at the latest.
At that time, candidates selected by the Scientific Committee will receive an official invitation letter.
Can I apply to submit a paper or panel session if I am not affiliated with an academic institution?
Yes, submissions can be made by anyone including policymakers and experts from governments and non-state partners, regardless of affiliation with an academic institution.
Which language should be used for the submission?
Paper and session proposals are requested to be submitted in the English language. If your paper is accepted, the presentation given at the conference must also be in English.
How do I know if my proposal has been submitted properly?
You will receive a confirmation email after submitting online. If you encounter any issue (e.g., if you would like to submit a new paper or amend details of a proposed session), or if you have not received the confirmation email within 24 hours, please reach out to ifms2025@oecd.org.
Can I upload an updated version of my paper or session proposal?
