Graciela Martinez Caballero
Biography
Dr. Graciela Martinez Caballero has a PhD in Geography from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a Master's degree in Demography from El Colegio de la Frontera Norte and Bachelor's degree in Sociology from UNAM.
She is Director of Statistics at the Centre for Migration Studies of the Migration Policy, Registration and Identity of Persons Unit of the Ministry of the Interior in Mexico. For the past 15 years she has worked with administrative records, establishing criteria and methodologies for their processing and use for statistical purposes. This joint work has positioned Mexico as a benchmark in the generation of statistics on mobility and international migration.
She is a member of the Specialized Technical Committees of Economic Statistics of the Tourism Sector and Demographic Dynamics of the National System of Statistical and Geographic Information (SNIEG) and in the last 5 years she has been part of the UN Expert Group on International Migration Statistics.
Her areas of knowledge and work are transit mobility through Mexico, border workers, statistical use of administrative records, migration and voting abroad, return migration and foreigners residing in Mexico; topics under which she has made some publications and participated in seminars and conferences.
