Francesca Grum

Biography
Francesca is Assistant Director and Chief of the Demographic and Social Statistics Branch of the United Nations Statistics Division in New York, where she leads the global compilation and dissemination of statistical information and the development of international standards and methods to produce and use demographic and social data. Her work currently focuses on producing high-quality, granular, timely and fit-for-purpose statistics to support evidence-based decision-making on societal issues and their connections with the environment and the economy.
Since joining the UN Statistics Division in New York in 2000, she has played a key role in methodological, analytical, and capacity-building initiatives related to data and indicators for inclusive and sustainable development and overall well-being. Before joining the UN, Ms. Grum worked as a data miner and statistical advisor on big data projects, including banking and mobile phone data.
