Description
Heidi Berner Herrera has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chile and a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Before being appointed Undersecretary, she was Coordinator of Modernization of the State at the Ministry of Finance.
In May 2020, she was appointed Vice Chancellor for Economic Affairs and Institutional Management at the University of Chile, the first woman to assume that responsibility. She was also executive director of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the same university.
During President Michelle Bachelet's second administration (2014-2018), she was Undersecretary of Social Evaluation at the Ministry of Social Development. During her administration, the Social Household Registry (RSH) was created, which replaced the old social protection file and the process of updating the poverty measurement, in which the measurement of multidimensional poverty was introduced.
Likewise, she promoted the transformation of public instruments, such as incorporating natural disaster risk in the social evaluation of public investment projects and the design and implementation of the Integrated Social Information System (SIIS).
Previously, she was Head of the Management Control Division of the Chilean Budget Office and coordinator of impact evaluations of the same Division in the Ministry of Finance.
