The session will examine the strategies related to FDI attraction in regions. It will explore different models of subnational investment promotion strategies and discuss their role in supporting regional attractiveness, achieving local sustainability goals, addressing regional disparities, as well as identifying challenges and opportunities.

[IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OECD LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FORUM] The session will be a practical discussion on the need to develop local capacities and skills to attract investment projects, focusing on the case of battery plant investments. Complementary policies and strategies, including from IPAs, are required to develop the required local workforce and meet the needs of the investors and the local communities.

[CLOSED SESSION: OECD members and Accession countries only] This session will focus on the institutional framework for investment promotion and facilitation at subnational level and explore the role of local actors, notably subnational IPAs and EDOs, and their relationships with national IPAs, identifying opportunities and challenges.

[CLOSED SESSION: OECD members and Accession countries only] This session will focus on examples of new approaches, methodologies and data sources used for M&E in selected areas of sustainability, featuring IPA best practices and new developments in this area – including based on a survey of IPAs conducted in 2023.
