Social Policy Ministerial Meeting and High-Level Policy Forum

Session 3 – Ensuring equal opportunities: where are the blind spots?

Feb 13, 2025 | 1:45 PM - 2:45 PM

OECD Conference Center and online

Session description

OECD countries have made substantial progress in several areas of equality but need to advance further. Yet social and economic mobility objectives remain to be mainstreamed in many social programmes, which sometimes ignore differences in opportunities and outcomes for different groups. A more recent challenge for policy-makers is to ensure that uses of Artificial Intelligence are free from bias and do not reinforce existing barriers.

• What are the most pressing employment and social challenges facing disadvantaged groups in your country?
• What policies best help ensure that people in these groups have equal opportunities to succeed in schools, labour markets, and society at large?
• How can we ensure that uses of Artificial Intelligence do not reinforce any existing barriers?
